Hidden Lives is a site-specific video installation created by Clara Román López and Tiago Branchini during their artistic residency at Casale Garibaldi in Rome. The project was developed in collaboration with the participants of the Breakfast Time programme, coordinated by pastor Eliad Dias Dos Santos from the Evangelical Methodist Church of Rome.
The residency combined artistic practice with social research. Together with the Breakfast Time participants, the artists worked on visual narratives, shared memories and everyday actions, using video and sound to examine how urban policies and the architecture of Rome shape the daily experiences of people living in the city.
The installation was presented on 7 July in the wooded area of the Casale Garibaldi park. The scenography was built using recycled and repurposed materials found on-site, including gardening fabrics used as projection surfaces. This approach reinforced the project’s focus on sustainability and its connection to the local environment and community.
Hidden Lives was supported by the Goethe-Institut and the European Union through Culture Moves Europe.
